Bill Scannell is Executive Vice President, Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at EMC Corporation. With revenues of $20 billion in 2011 and more than 53,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset – information – in a more agile, trusted, and cost-efficient way.
Scannell is responsible for driving EMC's growth and continued leadership by delivering and supporting the full range of EMC's products, services, and solutions to organizations in established and new markets in North and South America and across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Combined, these regions contributed approximately 85 percent of EMC's global revenues in 2011. He is also responsible for enhancing regional partner and channel relationships and ensuring that customer facing sales and service professionals in the regions understand and communicate the unique value that EMC brings to customers and business partners. As part of this mission, he focuses on driving coordination and teamwork among EMC's business unit sales forces. Scannell is also charged with building and maintaining relationships with EMC's largest global accounts, global alliance partners, and global channel partners. He is based at EMC's corporate headquarters in Hopkinton, Massachusetts and reports to EMC Vice Chairman Bill Teuber.
Under Scannell's direction, EMC has accelerated its market leadership in information storage, storage software, and storage-related services, and has firmly established itself as the market leader in information infrastructure solutions.
Since joining EMC in 1986, Scannell has held a variety of international and U.S. domestic sales management positions within the company. Soon after being named Country Manager of Canada, he became responsible for expanding EMC's business significantly in the United States and South America. He then moved to London, where he managed EMC's business for all of Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Scannell managed Worldwide Sales in 2001 and 2002 before he was named Senior Vice President for the Americas, overseeing EMC's largest sales theatre, beginning in 2003. Scannell was appointed Executive Vice President, Americas in March of 2007, and then Executive Vice President, Americas and EMEA in 2011.
Scannell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts.
